1 John 2:3 - Knowing Jesus?
Does 1 John 2:3 have conditions?
1 John 2:3: "And in this we-know that WE-HAVE-COME-TO-KNOW Him: IF we-are-keeping His commandments."
Regarding "Jesus Christ" (1 John 2:1), it is written that "in this we-know that WE-HAVE-COME-TO-KNOW Him: IF we-are-keeping His commandments" (1 John 2:3).
So we know that WE HAVE COME TO KNOW Jesus Christ under the following condition: "IF we-are-keeping His commandments" (1 John 2:3). The following verse also indicates that "The (one) saying that “I-HAVE-COME-TO-KNOW Him” and not keeping His commandments is (a) liar, and the truth is not in this (one)" (1 John 2:4).
Another condition for one to HAVE COME TO KNOW Jesus Christ is to not be someone sinning [in the present tense], as it is written about Jesus Christ that: "Everyone sinning [in the present tense] has not seen Him nor KNOWN Him" (1 John 3:6).
