Examples of sins in the new covenant
Examples of sins in the new covenant
Below are some examples of SINS in the new covenant:
Everything which is not out of faith:
An example of SIN can be everything which is not out-of faith, as Paul wrote: "the (one) doubting has-been-condemned if he-eats, because (it was) not out-of faith — and EVERYTHING WHICH (IS) NOT OUT-OF FAITH IS SIN" (Romans 14:23).
Showing favoritism to people:
An example of SIN can be to show favoritism to people (because of their appearance for example), especially in the context of loving others, as James wrote that if "“You-shall-love your neighbor as yourself”, you-are-doing well. But IF YOU-ARE-SHOWING-FAVORITISM-TO-PEOPLE YOU-ARE-WORKING (A) SIN" (James 2:8-9).
Knowing to be doing good and not doing it:
An example of SIN can be knowing to be doing good and not doing it, as James wrote: "(TO ONE) KNOWING TO-BE-DOING GOOD AND NOT DOING (IT, TO) HIM IT-IS (A) SIN" (James 4:17).
All unrighteousness:
An example of SIN can be all unrighteousness, as it is written in 1 John: "ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS [adikia 93 in Greek] IS SIN" (1 John 5:17).
Paul described UNRIGHTEOUS people according to what they practice in the following way: "do-you not know that UNRIGHTEOUS [adikoi 94 in Greek] (ones) will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be-deceived. Neither SEXUALLY-IMMORAL (ones), nor IDOLATERS, nor ADULTERERS, nor (HOMO-)PASSIVE(-MALE-PARTNERS), nor (HOMOSEXUALS-)MALE-BED(ERS), nor THIEVES, nor GREEDY (ones) — not DRUNKARDS , not REVILERS, not SWINDLERS — will-inherit (the) kingdom (of) God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
The "SEXUALLY-IMMORAL (ones)" (1 Corinthians 6:9) would be committing sexual immorality, which Paul indicated in the same chapter that they would be sinning when doing so, as Paul wrote: "the (one) COMMITTING-SEXUAL-IMMORALITY IS-SINNING" (1 Corinthians 6:18).
Sexual immorality:
Paul wrote: "the (one) COMMITTING-SEXUAL-IMMORALITY IS-SINNING" (1 Corinthians 6:18).
Sexual immorality: prior to being married:
Sexual immorality can include sexual activity done with someone prior to being married.
Paul wrote: "I-say (to) the unmarried and the widows — (it is) good (for) them if they-remain as I-also (am). But IF THEY-ARE NOT SELF-CONTROLLED, LET-THEM-MARRY. For it-is better to-marry than to-be-burning" (1 Corinthians 7:8).
A few verses earlier, Paul wrote: "BECAUSE-OF SEXUAL-IMMORALITIES, let each (man) have his (own) wife, and let each (woman) have (her) own husband" (1 Corinthians 7:2). Paul added to a wife and a husband: "DO NOT BE-DEPRIVING one-another, except perhaps by agreement, for (a) time, in-order-that you-may-be-at-leisure (to) prayer and (then) be together again, in-order-that Satan may not tempt you because-of your LACK-OF-SELF-CONTROL" (1 Corinthians 7:5).
Sexual immorality: someone having the wife of their own father:
Sexual immorality can include someone having the wife of their own father.
Paul wrote: "SEXUAL-IMMORALITY is actually being-heard (of) among you — and such sexual-immorality which (is) not-even among the Gentiles, that SOMEONE HAS (THE) WIFE (OF HIS) FATHER" (1 Corinthians 5:1).
(Homosexual-)male-bed(ers):
Do not be-deceived [...] (HOMOSEXUALS-)MALE-BED(ERS) [...] will-inherit (the) kingdom (of) God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
The Greek word for "(HOMOSEXUAL-)MALE-BED(ER)" [authenteó 733 in Greek] is composed of "MALE" [arrén 730 in Greek], and "BED" [koité 2845 in Greek].
The Greek word for "BED" [koité 2845 in Greek] is the source of the English word "coitus", which specifically refers to sexual intercourse. It thus refers to male sexual intercourse.
This word used by Paul in 1 Corinthians 6:9 may come from the two words found earlier in Leviticus 18 & 20 (from the ancient Greek manuscripts such as the Septuagint), as it is written: "you will not sleep in BED [koité 2845 in Greek] with a MALE [arrén 730 in Greek] (as with) a woman, for it is an abomination" (Leviticus 18:22) and "whoever will sleep with a MALE [arrén 730 in Greek] in BED [koité 2845 in Greek] (as with) a woman, they have both done an abomination [...] they are guilty" (Leviticus 20:13).
