Is obedience the same as believing?
OBEYING is not the same as BELIEVING. For example, it is possible to be "OBEYING unrighteousness" (Romans 2:8). This would not require BELIEVING.
Someone could OBEY a message commanding to simply BELIEVE, and as a result would be OBEDIENT in simply BELIEVING. Yet people were expected in the Bible to be OBEDIENT in more than simply one thing.
For example Paul wrote "(to) the church (of) God being in Corinth, together-with all the saints being in all Achaia" (2 Corinthians 1:1) saying: "I also wrote for this (purpose): that I-might-know your approvedness, whether you-are OBEDIENT in all (things)" (2 Corinthians 2:9). Paul did not write to know if they were "OBEDIENT in simply BELIEVING", but to know if they were "OBEDIENT in all (things)" (2 Corinthians 2:9). The adjective "all" (2 Corinthians 2:9) is in the plural, denoting two or more things, so it could not refer to only BELIEVING for example.
In another epistle, Paul wrote "if anyone does not OBEY our word through (this) epistle, be-taking-note-of this (one) — to not be-associating-with him" (2 Thessalonians 3:14). The word in that epistle included several things such as "do not grow-weary (while) doing-good" (2 Thessalonians 3:13), or "be-standing (firm)" (2 Thessalonians 2:15).
