Is repentance necessary to not perish?
REPENTANCE can be necessary to not PERISH.
Jesus said: "If you may not REPENT, you-will all likewise PERISH" (Luke 13:3). The Greek word for "REPENT" (Luke 13:3) is in the plural in that verse, addressing several people. Jesus did not say that if you may not REPENT, "you-MAY" all likewise PERISH, but Jesus said if you may not REPENT, "you-WILL all likewise PERISH" (Luke 13:3) in the future indicative tense.
Peter wrote "(to) the (ones) having-obtained an equally-precious faith (with) us in (the) righteousness (of) our God and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 1:1) and to them Peter said: "(The) Lord is not being-slow (about) the promise as some regard slowness, but He is-being-patient toward you, not wishing any TO-PERISH, but all to-make-room for REPENTANCE" (2 Peter 3:9). Peter seems to contrast not PERISHING and making room for REPENTANCE with the conjunction "BUT", when he wrote: "not wishing any TO-PERISH, BUT all to-make-room for REPENTANCE" (2 Peter 3:9).
This could explain why God is commanding everyone everywhere to REPENT, as it is written: "God, (as to) the present (things), is-commanding people (that) everyone everywhere REPENT" (Acts 17:30).
