John 6:44 - No one is able to come unless the Father draws
Does John 6:44 have conditions?
Drawn by being "taught"?:
Jesus said: "No-one is-able TO-COME to Me unless the Father having-sent Me DRAWS him" (John 6:44).
How may the Father DRAW someone so that this one is able "TO-COME" (John 6:44) to Jesus? The very next verse reads: "It has-been-written in the prophets: ‘and they-shall-be all TAUGHT (ones of) God’. Everyone having-heard from the Father and having-learned, COMES to Me" (John 6:45).
The Father may DRAW people by TEACHING them, as it is written: "they-shall-be all TAUGHT (ones of) God" (John 6:45) so that as a result of that DRAWING "Everyone having-heard from the Father and having-learned, COMES to Me" (John 6:45).
"Drawn":
Jesus said: "No-one is-able to-come to Me unless the Father having-sent Me DRAWS him" (John 6:44).
Jesus said that a necessary condition for someone to be "able to-come to Me" (John 6:44) is that "the Father having-sent Me DRAWS [helkó 1670 in Greek] him" (John 6:44).
Jesus did not say that everyone the Father DRAWS will necessarily come to Jesus, but Jesus said unless the Father DRAWS someone, that one is not able to come to Jesus.
Indeed, someone can decide to not pay attention to the DRAWING from the Father, as it is written: "You DREW [helkó 1670 in Greek] upon them many years, and testified to them by Your Spirit by (the) hand of Your prophets; but they did not pay attention" (Nehemiah 9:30 (LXX)).
"To come":
Jesus said: "No-one is-able TO-COME TO Me unless the Father having-sent Me may-have-drawn him" (John 6:44).
A condition "TO-COME TO" Jesus is for example to be willing to, as Jesus said: "you-are not willing TO-COME TO Me in-order-that you-may-have life" (John 5:40).
A condition "TO-COME TO" Jesus is for example having heard from the Father and having learned, as Jesus said: "Everyone having-heard from the Father and having-learned, COMES TO Me" (John 6:45). The Greek words for "having-heard" (John 6:45) and "having-learned" (John 6:45) are in the active voice, which can indicate that the subject is the doer or performer of the action.
