1 Corinthians 11:32 - Being disciplined so that we may not be condemned?

Does 1 Corinthians 11:32 have conditions?

1 Corinthians 11:32: "But (while) being-judged, WE-ARE-BEING-DISCIPLINED by the Lord in-order-that WE-MAY not BE-CONDEMNED with the world."

We "may" not be condemned?

Paul wrote: "(while) being-judged, we-are-disciplined by the Lord in-order-that WE-MAY not BE-CONDEMNED with the world" (1 Corinthians 11:32).

The Greek word for "WE-MAY-BE-CONDEMNED" is in the Subjunctive mood, which is the mood of possibility and potentiality, meaning that the action described may or may not occur, depending upon other conditions.

Thus while being judged, we are being disciplined by the Lord in order that we MAY or MAY not BE-CONDEMNED with the world, depending upon other conditions

"Being disciplined"?

Paul wrote: "(while) being-judged, WE-ARE-BEING-DISCIPLINED by the Lord in-order-that WE-MAY not BE-CONDEMNED with the world" (1 Corinthians 11:32).

The Lord disciplines: 1 Corinthians 11 & Hebrews 12:

Both 1 Corinthians 11 and Hebrews 12 are referring to THE LORD DISCIPLINING people:

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 11 that people are "BEING-DISCIPLINED [paideuо́ 3811 in Greek] by THE LORD" (1 Corinthians 11:32).

In Hebrews 12 it is written that "(the one) whom (THE) LORD loves He DISCIPLINES [paideuо́ 3811 in Greek]" (Hebrews 12:6).

Purpose of being disciplined: Hebrews 12:

It is written in Hebrews 12 that a purpose of BEING DISCIPLINED is for example to later yield the fruit of righteousness to the ones trained by it, as it is written: "all DISCIPLINE [paideia 3809 in Greek] for the present does not seem to-be (a thing of) joy, but (of) grief — but LATER IT-YIELDS (THE) PEACEFUL FRUIT (OF) RIGHTEOUSNESS (TO) THE (ONES) HAVING-BEEN-TRAINED BY IT" (Hebrews 12:11).

It is also written in Hebrews 12 that a purpose of BEING DISCIPLINED is to share in God's holiness, as it is written: "we-had fathers (of) our flesh (as) discipliners and were-respecting (them) — but shall-we not much more be-subject (to) the Father (of) [our] spirits and live? For the (ones) WERE-DISCIPLING [paideuо́ 3811 in Greek] (us) for (a) few days according-to the (thing) seeming (good to) them; but the (One does so) for (our) benefit, SO THAT (WE MAY) SHARE-IN HIS HOLINESS" (Hebrews 12:9-10).

Conditionality of being disciplined:

It is possible for this purpose of BEING DISCIPLINED to not come to pass, as it is possible for example that someone does not receive discipline.

For example, it is written in Jeremiah 2: "you did NOT receive DISCIPLINE [paideia 3809 in Greek]" (Jeremiah 2:30 (LXX)).

Another example, it is written in Jeremiah 5: "they did NOT desire to receive DISCIPLINE [paideia 3809 in Greek]; they made their faces harder than rock; and they did not desire to be returned" (Jeremiah 5:3 (LXX)).

We may not be "condemned"?

Paul wrote: "(while) being-judged, we-are-disciplined by the Lord in-order-that WE-MAY not BE-CONDEMNED [katakrinó 2632 in Greek] with the world" (1 Corinthians 11:32).

Paul wrote that someone doing SIN can be CONDEMNED: "(The) faith which you have, be-having for yourself in-the-sight-of God. Blessed (is) the (one) not judging himself in what he-is-approving. BUT THE (ONE) DOUBTING HAS-BEEN-CONDEMNED [katakrinó 2632 in Greek] IF HE-EATS, because (it was) not out-of faith — and everything which (is) not out-of faith is SIN" (Romans 14:22-23).
