Is the spirit of a person necessarily made holy automatically?

The spirit of a person is not necessarily made holy automatically.

The spirit of a person?

A person has their own (human) spirit inside of them, which is called in the Scriptures: "THE SPIRIT (OF) THE PERSON WITHIN HIM" (1 Corinthians 2:11).

A believer's own (human) spirit is distinct from the Holy Spirit of God, as for example it is written about the Holy Spirit of God in contrast WITH our (human) spirit that "THE SPIRIT (of God) itself bears-witness-WITH OUR SPIRIT that we-are children (of) God" (Romans 8:16).

The spirit of a person is not necessarily made holy automatically

1 Corinthians 7:

Paul wrote: "the unmarried woman, and the virgin, is-concerned (about) the (things of) the Lord — that SHE-MAY-BE HOLY both (in) the body and (in) the SPIRIT" (1 Corinthians 7:34).

The Greek word for "SHE-MAY-BE" is in the Subjunctive mood, which is the mood of possibility and potentiality, meaning that the action described may or may not occur, depending upon other conditions.

2 Corinthians 7:

Paul wrote: "having these promises, beloved, WE-MAY-CLEANSE ourselves from every STAIN (of) flesh and SPIRIT, PERFECTING HOLINESS in (the) fear (of) God" (2 Corinthians 7:1).

The Greek word for "WE-MAY-CLEANSE" is in the Subjunctive mood, which is the mood of possibility and potentiality, meaning that the action described may or may not occur, depending upon other conditions.

1 Thessalonians 5:

Paul wrote: "Now MAY the God (of) peace Himself MAKE you HOLY completely. And MAY your whole SPIRIT and soul and body BE-KEPT faultlessly" (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

The Greek verbs for "MAY-MAKE-HOLY" (1 Thessalonians 5:23) and "MAY-BE-KEPT" (1 Thessalonians 5:23) are in the optative mood, which expresses a wish or desire for an action to occur in which the completion of such can be subject to doubts

Hebrews 12:

It is written: "we-had fathers (of) our flesh (as) discipliners and were-respecting (them) — but shall-we not much more be-subject (to) THE FATHER (OF OUR) SPIRITS and live? For the (ones) WERE-DISCIPLINING (us) for (a) few days according-to the (thing) seeming (good to) them; but the (One does so) for (our) benefit, SO THAT (WE MAY) SHARE-IN HIS HOLINESS" (Hebrews 12:9-10).

Here the Father of our "SPIRITS" (Hebrews 12:9) can be "DISCIPLINING (us)" (Hebrews 12:10) "SO THAT (WE MAY) SHARE-IN HIS HOLINESS" (Hebrews 12:10).

It is possible for this purpose of BEING DISCIPLINED to not come to pass, as it is possible for example that someone does not receive discipline.

For example, it is written in Jeremiah 2: "you did NOT receive DISCIPLINE [paideia 3809 in Greek]" (Jeremiah 2:30 (LXX)).

Another example, it is written in Jeremiah 5: "they did NOT desire to receive DISCIPLINE [paideia 3809 in Greek]; they made their faces harder than rock; and they did not desire to be returned" (Jeremiah 5:3 (LXX)).
