Sins can be linked to illnesses

Summary:

There is evidence in the Bible that:
SINS can be linked to the language of ILLNESSES.
NOT SINNING can be linked to the language of HEALTH.

This language can be used to describe a SPIRITUAL reality linked to sins.

Now this language of illnesses can also sometimes describe a PHYSICAL reality linked to sins. There is evidence that it is possible that PHYSICAL ILLNESSES can be SIGNS of SPIRITUAL ILLNESSES

Now even though this is possible, it is NOT NECESSARILY the case, as NOT ALL PHYSICAL ILLNESSES ARE LINKED TO SINS

There is evidence that BELIEVERS OF GOD are able to become PHYSICALLY ILL, even TO THE POINT OF PHYSICALLY PASSING AWAY

You can find more details below:

Sins can be linked to the language of illnesses:

Luke 5:

"SINNING (ONES)" (Luke 5:30, Luke 5:32) can be comparable to "(ONES) BEING ILL" (Luke 5:31).

It is written: "the Pharisees and their scribes were-grumbling to His disciples, saying, “For what reason are-you-eating and drinking with the tax collectors and SINNING (ONES)?” And having-responded, Jesus said to them, “The (ones) being-healthy have no need (of a) physician, BUT THE (ONES) BEING ILL. I-have not come to-call righteous (ones) to repentance, BUT SINNING (ONES)" (Luke 5:30-32).

1 Timothy 6:

Someone who "DOES NOT COME-TO HEALTHY WORDSTHE (ONES OF) OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST" (1 Timothy 6:3) can be described as "BEING-DISEASED" (1 Timothy 6:4).

Paul wrote that if someone "DOES NOT COME-TO HEALTHY WORDS, THE (ONES OF) OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, and (to) the teaching in-accordance-with well-worship, he-has-become-conceited, understanding nothing, but BEING-DISEASED with-respect-to controversies and word-battles" (1 Timothy 6:3-4).

2 Timothy 2:

People who do "PROFANE EMPTY-CHATTERINGS" (2 Timothy 2:16) can have for description that "their talk will-have (a) spreading like GANGRENE" (2 Timothy 2:17).

Paul wrote: "be-shunning the PROFANE EMPTY-CHATTERINGS. For they-will-advance further (in) non-worship, and their talk will-have (a) spreading like GANGRENE, (of) whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus" (2 Timothy 2:16-17).

Hebrews 12:

People who may "SIN" (Hebrews 12:13) can be described as having a "LAME (PART)" (Hebrews 12:13) that needs to be healed.

It is written: "you-did not yet resist to-the-point (of) blood (while) struggling against SIN! And have-you-completely-forgotten the exhortation which speaks (to) you as sons?: “My son, do not be-thinking-lightly (of the) DISCIPLINE (of the) Lord, nor losing-heart (while) being-rebuked by Him" (Hebrews 12:4-5), "all DISCIPLINE for the present does not seem to-be (a thing of) joy, but (of) grief, but later (it) gives-back (the) peaceful fruit (of) righteousness (to) the (ones) having-been-trained by it. THEREFORE straighten-up the hands having-been-slackened and the knees having-been-made-feeble, and be-making straight paths (for) your feet, in-order-that the LAME (PART) may not be-dislocated but rather may-be-healed" (Hebrews 12:11-13).

Not sinning can be linked to the language of health:

Luke 5:

Jesus may have implied that He is a "PHYSICIAN" (Luke 5:31) for people to come to, so that they can end up "BEING-HEALTHY" (Luke 5:31) instead of being "SINNING (ONES)" (Luke 5:30, Luke 5:32).

It is written: "the Pharisees and their scribes were-grumbling to His disciples, saying, “For what reason are-you-eating and drinking with the tax collectors and SINNING (ONES)?” And having-responded, Jesus said to them, “The (ones) BEING-HEALTHY have no need (of a) PHYSICIANBUT THE (ONES) BEING ILL. I-have not come to-call righteous (ones) to repentance, BUT SINNING (ONES)" (Luke 5:30-32).

Titus 1:

People who can be described as "LIARS, EVIL beasts, non-working GLUTTONS" (Titus 1:12) can then be rebuked so that "THEY-MAY-BE-HEALTHY IN THE FAITH" (Titus 1:13).

Paul wrote: "“Cretans (are) always LIARSEVIL beasts, non-working GLUTTONS”. This testimony is true. For which reason, BE-REBUKING THEM severely in-order-that THEY-MAY-BE-HEALTHY IN THE FAITH" (Titus 1:12-13).

Physical illnesses can be signs of spiritual illnesses:

Acts 9:

After persecuting the church, Saul (Paul) had a vision of Christ and was rendered PHYSICALLY BLIND (because he did not SPIRITUALLY SEE that the church he persecuted was the body of Christ).

It is written: "Saul, still breathing threat and murder against the disciples (of) the Lord" (Acts 9:1) "(a) light from heaven flashed-around him. And having-fallen on the ground, he-heard (a) voice saying (to) him, “Saul, Saul, why are-you-persecuting Me?” And he-said, “WHO ARE-YOU, SIR?” And the (One said), “I am Jesus Whom you are-persecuting." (Acts 9:3-5), and as a result of this encounter: "Saul was-raised from the ground. And HIS EYES having-been-opened, HE-WAS-SEEING NOTHING" (Acts 9:8).

When Saul came to SPIRITUALLY SEE who appeared to him on the road, he PHYSICALLY SAW AGAIN.

It is written: "Ananias departed, and entered into the house. And having-laid (his) hands on him, he-said, “Brother Saul, THE LORD has-sent me forth, THE (ONE) HAVING-APPEARED (TO) YOU ON THE ROAD (on) which you-were-coming, so-that you-may-see-again and be-filled (with the) Holy Spirit”. And immediately (something) like scales fell from his eyes. And HE-SAW-AGAIN, and having-arisen, was-baptized" (Acts 9:17-18).

Not all physical illnesses are linked to sins:

John 9:

Regarding a specific man PHYSICALLY "BLIND FROM BIRTH" (John 9:1), Jesus said: "NEITHER THIS (ONE) SINNED NOR HIS PARENTS" (John 9:1-3).

It is written about Jesus that "He-saw (a) man BLIND FROM BIRTH. And His disciples asked Him, saying “Rabbi, who sinned — this (one) or his parents, that he-should-be-born blind?” Jesus answered, “NEITHER THIS (ONE) SINNED NOR HIS PARENTS, but (it was) in-order-that the works (of) God might-be-made-visible in him" (John 9:1-3).

James 2:

It is written: "the prayer (of) faith will-restore the (one) BEING-ILL, and the Lord will-raise him. And-IF HE-HAS COMMITTED SINS, it-will-be-forgiven him" (James 5:15).

It is possible for someone PHYSICALLY "BEING-ILL" (James 5:15) to be restored from that and then have the following description attached: "IF HE-HAS COMMITTED SINS" (James 5:15). The conditional "IF" here may be implying that such a one may or may NOT have committed sins in order to end up PHYSICALLY "BEING-ILL" (James 5:15).

Believers of God are able to become physically ill, even to the point of physically passing away:

2 Kings 13:

It is written: "ELISHA HAS BECOME SICK WITH HIS ILLNESS IN WHICH HE DIED; and Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept on his face, and said, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen!" (2 Kings 13:14).

Jesus mentioned this "ELISHA the prophet" (Luke 4:27), seemingly assuming that ELISHA was a righteous person.

Philippians 2:

Paul wrote about "Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow-worker and fellow-soldier, and your apostle and minister (of) my need" (Philippians 2:25) that "HE-WAS-SICK NEARLY (TO) DEATH" (Philippians 2:27).

1 Timothy 5:

Paul wrote "(to) Timothy, genuine child in (the) faith" (1 Timothy 1:2) about "your FREQUENT SICKNESSES" (1 Timothy 5:23).

2 Timothy 4:

Paul wrote: "I-left-behind Trophimus SICK in Miletus" (2 Timothy 4:20).
