John 4:14 - Conditional eternal life?
Does John 4:14 have conditions?
John 4:14: But whoever should-drink from the water which I WILL-GIVE him — he-will never thirst, to the age. On-the-contrary, the water which I-WILL-GIVE him will-become (a) spring (of) water in him, BUBBLING-UP TO eternal life”.
"I will give" him:
Jesus said: "the water which I-WILL-GIVE him will-become (a) spring (of) water in him, BUBBLING-UP TO eternal life" (John 4:14).
Is there a condition for which "the water which I-WILL-GIVE him" (John 4:14) will be GIVEN?
Yes, on the condition for example of asking Jesus, as Jesus said 4 verses earlier: "If you-knew the gift (of) God, and Who the (One) saying (to) you ‘Give Me (water) to-drink’ is— you WOULD-HAVE-ASKED Him, and HE-WOULD-HAVE-GIVEN you living water" (John 4:10). Jesus referred to the "water" (John 4:14) specifically as "living water" (John 4:10).
Living water?
To whom would this "LIVING WATER" (John 4:10) become "(a) spring (of) WATER in him, BUBBLING-UP TO eternal life" (John 4:14)?
This would happen for example to the one "BELIEVING" in Jesus. Indeed 3 chapters later, Jesus said: "The (one) BELIEVING in Me, just-as the Scripture said — Rivers (of) LIVING WATER will-flow from his belly" (John 7:38).
The Greek word for "BELIEVING" (John 7:38) is in the Present Active Participle, which refers to a present active event.
Is it possible at some point to not meet the condition of "believing" anymore? Yes, as Jesus also said for example that some people "ARE-BELIEVING for (a) time, and are-departing in (a) time (of) testing" (Luke 8:13).
