Does Hebrews 6:4-6 have conditions?
Hebrews 6:4: "For (it is) impossible for the (ones) having once been-enlightened and having-tasted the heavenly gift, and having-been-made partakers (of the) Holy Spirit,"
Hebrews 6:5: "and having-tasted (the) good word (of) God and (the) powers (of the) age about-to(-come),"
Hebrews 6:6: "and having-fallen-away, to-renew (them) again to repentance, crucifying-again (for) themselves the Son (of) God, and publicly-disgracing (Him)."
Hebrews 6:4: "having once been-enlightened":
It is written about "the (ones) HAVING once BEEN-ENLIGHTENED [phótizó 5461 in Greek, Aorist Passive Participle]" (Hebrews 6:4).
4 chapters later, it is written: "remember the former days during which, HAVING-BEEN-ENLIGHTENED [phótizó 5461 in Greek, Aorist Passive Participle], you endured (a) great struggle (of) sufferings" (Hebrews 10:32).
Hebrews 6:4: "having-tasted the heavenly gift":
It is written about "HAVING-TASTED the heavenly gift" (Hebrews 6:4).
The term for "HAVING-TASTED [geuomai 1089 in Greek]" (Hebrews 6:4) can be used to mean something fully experienced, as for example Jesus fully experienced death, and so 4 chapters earlier it is written: "Jesus, having-been-crowned (with) glory and honor because-of the suffering (of) the death, so-that (by the) grace (of) God HE-MIGHT-TASTE [geuomai 1089 in Greek] death for everyone" (Hebrews 2:9)
Hebrews 6:4: "having-been-made partakers of the Holy Spirit":
It is written about "having-been-made PARTAKERS (of the) Holy Spirit" (Hebrews 6:4).
The term for "PARTAKERS [ginomai 1096 in Greek]" (Hebrews 6:4) can be used to mean to truly take part of something or someone, as for example 3 chapters earlier it is written: "we-have-become PARTAKERS [ginomai 1096 in Greek] (of) Christ if-indeed we-hold-on-to the beginning (of our) assurance firm until (the) end" (Hebrews 3:14). Another example: 6 chapters later, it is written: "if you-are without discipline, (of) which all have-become PARTAKERS [ginomai 1096 in Greek], then you-are illegitimate (children) and not sons" (Hebrews 12:8)
Hebrews 6:6: "having-fallen-away":
Hebrews 6 describes people "HAVING-FALLEN-AWAY" (Hebrews 6:6) who are PRESENTLY and ACTIVELY "CRUCIFYING-AGAIN (for) themselves the Son (of) God, AND PUBLICLY-DISGRACING (HIM)" (Hebrews 6:6).
The Greek word for "HAVING-FALLEN-AWAY [parapiptо́ 3895 in Greek]" (Hebrews 6:6) is used for example in Ezekiel in ancient Greek manuscripts, in which it is written that "a righteous person" (Ezekiel 18:24) who "FELL-AWAY [parapiptо́ 3895 in Greek]" (Ezekiel 18:24) is one who "turns away from his righteousness" (Ezekiel 18:24) and does "unrighteousness, according to all the lawless deeds which the lawless person did" (Ezekiel 18:24). The warning in Ezekiel 18 reads: "when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness, and shall do unrighteousness, according to all the lawless deeds which the lawless person did, all of his righteous acts which he did by no means shall be remembered; in his trespass in which he FELL-AWAY [parapiptо́ 3895 in Greek], and in his sins which he sinned, in them he will die" (Ezekiel 18:24).
The warning in Ezekiel 18 reads that for such a one "all of his righteous acts which he did BY NO MEANS SHALL BE REMEMBERED" (Ezekiel 18:24), and the author of Hebrews may set this in contrast with their audience who were not in this case, indicating several verses later: "BUT concerning you, beloved, we-are-convinced-of better (things), and (things) having salvation, even though we-are-speaking in-this-manner. For God (is) not unjust (so as) TO-FORGET your work and the love which you-demonstrated for His name, having-served the holy (ones) AND (STILL) SERVING" (Hebrews 6:9-10). The difference was that the audience here was "(STILL) SERVING" (Hebrews 6:10) PRESENTLY and ACTIVELY, in contrast to those "HAVING-FALLEN-AWAY" (Hebrews 6:6) who were PRESENTLY and ACTIVELY "CRUCIFYING-AGAIN (for) themselves the Son (of) God, AND PUBLICLY-DISGRACING (HIM)" (Hebrews 6:6).
The passage in Ezekiel 18 also gives hope, indicating that: "if a lawless person should turn away from all his iniquities which he did, and should keep all My commandments, and should do righteousness and mercy, by life, he will live, and shall by no means die. All of his trespasses, as many as he did will not be remembered; in his righteousness which he did he will live" (Ezekiel 18:21-22).
Hebrews 6:6: "having-fallen-away" vs "having-fallen":
The Greek word for "HAVING-FALLEN-AWAY" [parapiptó 3895 in Greek] in Hebrews 6:6 is composed of the Greek words "from" [para 3844 in Greek] and "HAVING-FALLEN" [para 4098 in Greek].
A Christian is able to repent even if being found as "HAVING-FALLEN" [para 4098 in Greek] such "that you-left your first love" (Revelation 2:4), as it is written to the church in Ephesus: "be-remembering from-where YOU-HAVE-FALLEN (peptōkas 4098 in Greek), and repent" (Revelation 2:5).
What is the goal of the warning in Hebrews 6:4-6?:
The goal of the warning in Hebrews 6:4-6 is to exhort the audience who were still yet in the "INFANT" (Hebrews 5:13) stage of their spiritual growth for much time because they had become "SLUGGISH (in) the hearing" (Hebrews 5:11) to seek instead to "be-carried-along to MATURITY" (Hebrews 6:1).
The warning came out of a "desire (that) each (of) you be-demonstrating the same DILIGENCE toward the full-assurance (of) hope until (the) end, in-order-that you-may NOT BE SLUGGISH, but imitators (of) the (ones) inheriting the promises through FAITH AND PATIENCE" (Hebrews 6:11-12).
