The 6 foundational basics of Christ

The 6 foundational basics of Christ

Hebrews 6:1-2: "Therefore, having-left THE MESSAGE (OF) THE BEGINNING (OF) CHRIST, let us be-carried-along to maturity, not again laying-down (a) FOUNDATION (of) repentance from dead works and faith upon God, (of) instruction (about) baptisms and laying-on (of) hands, and (about the) resurrection (of the) dead (ones) and eternal judgment."

Summary:

There are 6 foundational basics of Christ.

The "FOUNDATION" (Hebrews 6:1) of "CHRIST" (Hebrews 6:1) listed in Hebrews 6:1-2 is:

1) "REPENTANCE FROM DEAD WORKS" (Hebrews 6:1).

2) "FAITH UPON GOD" (Hebrews 6:1).

3) "INSTRUCTION ABOUT BAPTISMS" (Hebrews 6:2).

4) "INSTRUCTION ABOUT LAYING-ON OF HANDS" (Hebrews 6:2).

5) "RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD ONES" (Hebrews 6:2).

6) "ETERNAL JUDGMENT" (Hebrews 6:2).

This foundation is the "milk" (Hebrews 5:13) of the "word" (Hebrews 5:13) which Christ taught. Someone who is still an "infant" (Hebrews 5:13) in Christ is called to grow spiritually past these fundamental principles after a certain time, "having-left" (Hebrews 6:1) these once they are known and not "again" (Hebrews 6:1) laying down this foundation for them, as they are to "be-carried-along to maturity" (Hebrews 6:1).

Now for those to whom this foundation has not yet been set, it is important to set that foundation.

You can find more details below:

The foundation of Christ... according to Christ:

"CHRIST" (Hebrews 6:1) Himself spoke about the "FOUNDATION" (Hebrews 6:1):

1) REPENTANCE FROM DEAD WORKS:

Christ said: "I-have not come to-call righteous (ones) to REPENTANCE, but SINNING (ONES)" (Luke 5:32).

2) FAITH UPON GOD:

Christ said: "BE-BELIEVING in GOD" (John 14:1).

3) INSTRUCTION ABOUT BAPTISMS:

Christ said: "make-disciples-of all the nations, BAPTIZING them" (Matthew 28:19).

It is written that Christ that "is the (One) BAPTIZING IN (THE) HOLY SPIRIT" (John 1:33).

4) INSTRUCTION ABOUT LAYING-ON OF HANDS:

It is written about Christ that "HE-WAS-BLESSING (them), LAYING (HIS) HANDS on them" (Mark 10:16).

5) RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD ONES:

Christ said: "the (ones) having-been-considered-worthy to-obtain that age and the RESURRECTION FROM (THE) DEAD (ONES) [...] THEY-ARE NOT EVEN STILL ABLE TO-DIE, for they-are angel-like" (Luke 20:35-36).

6) ETERNAL JUDGMENT:

Christ said that "He-will-sit on (the) throne (of) His glory, and all the nations will-be-gathered before Him. And He-will-separate them from one-another" (Matthew 25:31-32). Christ then says to one group of people: "I-was-hungry, and you-gave Me (something) to-eat. I-thirsted, and you-gave-a-drink (to) Me. I-was (a) stranger, and you-brought Me in; naked, and you-clothed Me. I-was-sick, and you-looked-after Me. I-was in prison, and you-came to Me" (Matthew 25:35-36). Regarding that group, the "ETERNAL" verdict of judgment is that "the righteous (ones will go) to ETERNAL life" (Matthew 25:46), but regarding the other group who did not do these works, the "ETERNAL" verdict was that they "will-go into ETERNAL punishment" (Matthew 25:46).

Ancient Christian author:

Around the 9th century, a Christian author named Photios I of Constantinople wrote: "the “elements of the beginning of the oracles of God” consist of renouncing Satan and his worksbelieving in Godbeing baptizedreceiving the Holy Spirit, knowing about the resurrection of the dead and believing that there is a judgment." (Fragments on the epistle to the Hebrews 6:1-3).

The foundation of Christ... according to the disciples of Christ in the book of Acts:

The disciples of "CHRIST" (Hebrews 6:1) spoke about the "FOUNDATION" (Hebrews 6:1) of Christ in the book of Acts..

Peter - Acts 2:

In Acts 2, Peter in one single preaching first implied that there was a judgment [6], saying: "The sun will be changed into darkness, and the moon into blood, before THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD COMES." (Acts 2:20).

Peter then mentioned the reality of the resurrection from the dead ones [5] which started with Jesus, saying that "God RAISED UP this Jesus, of which we are all witnesses." (Acts 2:32).

Peter then mentioned faith upon God [2], saying: "Therefore let all the house of Israel KNOW with-certainty that GOD made Him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus Whom you crucified”." (Acts 2:36).

Peter then mentioned as a response to this repentance [1] and being baptized [3], as he said: "REPENT, and let each of you be BAPTIZED on-the-basis-of the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38).

Philip and the apostles - Acts 8:

In Acts 8, Philip spoke about faith upon God [2], as it is written that: "they BELIEVED Philip announcing-the-good-news about the kingdom of GOD and the name of Jesus Christ" (Acts 8:12).

This was followed by baptism [3], as it is written that as a result "they were being BAPTIZED, both men and women" (Acts 8:12).

Then the apostles came down for the laying on of hands [4] so that they might receive the Holy Spirit, as "Then they were LAYING THEIR HANDS ON them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit" (Acts 8:17).

It was then also mentioned that someone needed repentance [1], as it is written: "REPENT from this evilness of yours, and pray to the Lord, if perhaps the intention of your heart will be forgiven you" (Acts 8:22).

Peter - Acts 10:

In Acts 10, Peter in one single preaching, first spoke about faith upon God [2], saying: "I understand, in accordance with truth, that GOD is not a respecter-of-persons, but in every nation, the one fearing Him and working righteousness is ACCEPTABLE to Him." (Acts 10:34-35).

Peter followed with the reality of the resurrection from the dead ones [5] which started with Jesus, mentioning how "He ROSE-UP FROM THE DEAD (ONES)" (Acts 10:41).

Peter then mentioned the judgment [6], saying how "He commanded us to proclaim to the people, and to solemnly-warn that this One is the One having been designated by God as JUDGE OF THE LIVING AND THE DEAD" (Acts 10:42).

Peter then mentioned baptism [3], as "While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all the ones hearing the message" (Acts 10:44), and Peter said: "“No one is able to forbid the water so that these may not be BAPTIZED, is he?, who received the Holy Spirit as also we did. And he commanded that they be BAPTIZED in the name of Jesus Christ" (Acts 10:47-48).

In the next chapter, when recounting what happened, repentance [1] was mentioned, saying that "God granted the REPENTANCE leading-to life to the Gentiles also" (Acts 11:18).

Paul - Acts 17:

In Acts 17, when Paul was in Athens, he spoke in one single preaching about faith upon God [2], saying: "THIS I AM PROCLAIMING TO YOU: GOD, the One having made the world and all the things in it" (Acts 17:23-24).

Paul followed this with repentance [1], saying: "God, as to the present things, is commanding people that everyone everywhere should REPENT" (Acts 17:30).

And then Paul finished by saying (in the very next verse, still in the same sentence) that they should repent BECAUSE there will be a judgment [6] along with the reality of the resurrection from the dead ones [5] which started with Jesus, saying: "BECAUSE He set a day on which He is going to JUDGE THE WORLD in righteousness by a Man Whom He designated, having granted a proof to everyone, HAVING RAISED HIM UP FROM THE DEAD (ONES)”." (Acts 17:31).

Paul - Acts 19:

In Acts 19, Paul said to some "disciples" (Acts 19:1) who did not receive the instruction about baptisms [3]: "Did you receive the Holy Spirit, having believed?" (Acts 19:2), adding: "“Into what then were you BAPTIZED?” And the ones said, “Into John’s baptism”. And Paul said, “John baptized a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the One coming after him, that is, in Jesus”. And having heard it, they were BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS" (Acts 19:2-5).

This was followed by the laying on of hands [4] for them to receive the Holy Spirit, as it is written that "Paul HAVING LAID HIS HANDS ON them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they were speaking in tongues and prophesying" (Acts 19:6).

Paul - Acts 24:

In Acts 24, Paul spoke to the Roman governor Felix and mentioned faith upon God [2], saying: "I confess this to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, thus I am worshiping the GOD of my ancestor, BELIEVING all the things in accordance with the Law, and the things having been written in the Prophets" (Acts 24:14).

Paul then mentioned in the very next verse (still in the same sentence) the resurrection from the dead ones [5], saying: "there will-certainly be a RESURRECTION of both righteous ones and unrighteous ones." (Acts 24:15), adding: "I am being judged before you today concerning THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD (ONES)" (Acts 24:21).

Paul ended by mentioning the judgment [6], as he was "speaking about righteousness, self-control and the coming JUDGMENTFelix, having become afraid, responded, “As to the present, go. And having received an opportunity, I will summon you" (Acts 24:25).

The importance of the foundation to grow spiritually:

The "FOUNDATION" (Hebrews 6:1) of "CHRIST" (Hebrews 6:1) listed in Hebrews 6:1-2 is important to grow spiritually as it is the "MILK" (Hebrews 5:13) of the "word" (Hebrews 5:13) which Christ taught.

Peter wrote that (spiritual) newborn babies in Christ can grow by the MILK of the word, as he wrote to "yearn like newborn babies for the deceitless reasonable MILK in-order-that by it YOU-MAY-GROW for (your) salvation" (1 Peter 2:2).
