Salvation can mean to be saved. From what can one be saved?
Salvation from sins:

Salvation out-of death (from sin):
1) Sinning can bring forth death:
James wrote: "SIN, having-been-completed, BRINGS-FORTH DEATH" (James 1:15).
2) Death went through to all people because all sinned:
Paul wrote: "DEATH went-through to all people because ALL SINNED" (Romans 5:12).
3) One's soul can be saved out-of death:
James wrote: "the (one) having-turned-back (a) SINNING (one) from (the) error (of) his way WILL-SAVE his soul OUT-OF [ek 1537 in Greek] DEATH" (James 5:20).
