Luke 8:14 - Third soil: Fallen into the thorns?
Does Luke 8:14 have conditions?
Luke 8:14: "And the (seed) having-fallen into the THORNS — these (people) are the (ones) having-heard, and (while) proceeding are-being-choked by (the) anxieties and riches and pleasures (of) life. And they-are not bringing(-fruit-to)-end."
"Having sprung"?
It is written about the people of the third soil that "the SEED is THE WORD (OF) GOD" (Luke 8:11) and "(SEED) fell in (the) middle (of) the thorns. And the thorns, HAVING-SPRUNG-WITH (IT), choked it" (Luke 8:7).
Here "THE WORD (OF) GOD" (Luke 8:11) and "the thorns" sprung together in the same person, as it is written about "the thorns, HAVING-SPRUNG-WITH (IT)" (Luke 8:7), that is, WITH THE WORD (OF) GOD.
The Greek word for "HAVING-SPRUNG-WITH" [sumphuó 4855 in Greek, verb] used in Luke 8:7 comes from "WITH" [sun 4862 in Greek, preposition] and "TO-SPRING" [phuó 5453 in Greek, verb].
A person in whom the word of God may have sprung could describe a new convert.
Paul wrote that "the overseer" (1 Timothy 3:2) should "not (be a) NEW-SPROUT" (1 Timothy 3:6). The Greek word for "NEW-SPROUT" [neophutos 3504 in Greek, adjective] coming from "new" [neos 3501 in Greek, adjective] and a derivative of "TO-SPRING" [phuó 5453 in Greek, verb] which is used in Luke 8:6.
This word could describe a new convert.
Thorns can spring along with the word of God in such a person.
Thorns?
It is written about the people of the third soil that "the (seed) having-fallen into the THORNS — these (people) are the (ones) having-heard, and (while) proceeding are-being-choked by (the) anxieties and riches and pleasures (of) life" (Luke 8:14).
Thorns are "chocking" the word of God:
Jesus said: "the SEED is THE WORD (OF) GOD" (Luke 8:11), and "(SEED) fell in (the) middle (of) the THORNS. And the THORNS, having grown-with (it), CHOCKED IT" (Luke 8:7). Here the THORNS CHOCKED THE WORD (OF) GOD.
Jesus said: "the (one) having-been-sown (THE SEED) into the THORNS, this (person) is the (one) hearing the word, and the anxiety (of the) age and the deceitfulness (of) riches IS-CHOKING THE WORD" (Matthew 13:22). Here the THORNS CHOCKED THE WORD.
Thorns are "chocking" the people:
Jesus said: "And the (seed) having-fallen into the THORNS, THESE (PEOPLE) are the (ones) having-heard, and (while) proceeding ARE-BEING-CHOKED by (the) anxieties and riches and pleasures (of) life" (Luke 8:14). Here the THORNS CHOCKED THE PEOPLE.
"Chocking":
To illustrate the Greek word for "TO-BE-CHOKED" [sumpnigó 4846 in Greek] used in Matthew 13:22, Mark 4:7, Mark 4:19 & Luke 8:14, that Greek word can for example be used to describe how someone is PRESSED by crowds: "during His going, the crowds WERE-CHOKING [sumpnigó 4846 in Greek] Him" (Luke 8:42). So there might be perhaps this feeling of being pressed, feeling the need to breath also.
Another Greek word used for "TO-BE-CHOKED" [pnigó 4155 in Greek] used in Matthew 13:7 can for example be used to describe DROWNING in the sea: "the herd, about two-thousand, rushed down the steep-bank into the sea. And THEY-WERE-DROWNING [pnigó 4155 in Greek] in the sea" (Mark 5:13). So there might be perhaps this feeling of drowning, feeling the need to breath also.
Another Greek word used for "TO-BE-CHOKED" [apepnixan 638 in Greek] used in Luke 8:7 can also be used for example to describe DROWNING in the sea: "the herd rushed down the steep-bank into the lake, and WAS-DROWNED [apepnixan 638 in Greek]" (Luke 8:33). So there might be perhaps this feeling of drowning, feeling the need to breath also.
Consequences of being chocked:
As a consequence of being chocked by the thorns, Jesus said: "And the (seed) having-fallen into the thorns, THESE (PEOPLE) are the (ones) having-heard, and (while) proceeding ARE-BEING-CHOKED by (the) anxieties and riches and pleasures (of) life. AND THEY-ARE NOT BRINGING(-FRUIT-TO)-END" (Luke 8:14). Here after being chocked THE PEOPLE ARE NOT BRINGING(-FRUIT-TO)-END.
As a consequence of being chocked by the thorns, Jesus said: "the anxieties (of) the age and the deceitfulness (of) riches and the desires with-respect-to the other (things) coming-in ARE-CHOCKING THE WORD, and IT-BECOMES UNFRUITFUL" (Mark 4:19). Here after being chocked THE WORD BECOMES UNFRUITFUL.
